United Press Association—Copyright
(Received Nov. 11, 9.14 a.m.) MELBOURNE, Nov. 11. Mr. Bent, Premier of Victoria, speaking at the Lord Mayor’s banquet, agreed that Australia needed advertising. luttle was known of Australia an England, and England “did not care a button for us, except for what she got out of us.” •Admiral Fawkes, in responding to the toast of “The Navy,” said it had struck him as rather peculiar that people were always talking about ba-ttlesliips, cruisers, torpedo boats, submarines, but seemed to think very little of the crews who were to mail them. In the future it would be better to nay more attention than Australia was now doing to training men. In the last fivo years this country might have put 32 boys in rt.be training ships of tlie Imperial Navy, but had only sent 12. Perhaps parents did not' care ito part with itheir hoys, perhaps the expense was too great, or perhaps Australian boys preferred the land to the sea.
