HIGH COMMISSIONER’S REPORT Press Association. WELLINGTON, Nov. 11.
Tho Department of Industries and Commerce has received the following cable from the High Commissioner, dated London, November 9th :—Tho mutton market lis steady, and shipments now arriving are very small. Canterbury brands 3|d; North Island, 31jd for light weights, 3Jd for heavy weights. Tho lamb market is slightly .weaker, with less demand for New Zealand stocks on hand; light Canterbury .brands 51 d ; other than Canterbury sd. The beef market is steady, and tliejdemand is chiefly for forequarters'. Average prices are 3}d and 2Jd for hind and forequarters respectively. Tlie butter market is steady, but without animation. The average price realised throughout the week was 122 s per cwt for choicest New Zealand brands, and stocks are almost exhausted. Danish butter 1265, Siberian 112 s, Argentine 120 s. The cheese market is quiet, and there is no alteration du prices to report-. The hemp market also is quiet, with moderate enquiry at rates cabled last week-. New_ Zealand long berried wheat' 42s per.496lb ex granary ; mai'ket- quiet nit steady. Oat transactions are light. New Zealand sparrowbills 27s 6d per 3841b5, Danish 21s 6d‘ per 320 lbs. Now Zealand beans f.a.q, -.new. crop 33s per 5041b5. Grain':' Prices are nominal. The cocksfoot market is firm, but the demand is only moderate ; bright 17-lb dressed seed 74s per cwt. o
