Mr. B. Houston, Mr. R. Hay’s representative in connection with the waterworks contmct, arrived in town on Saturday, as also did Mr. Biguell, of the Spiral Pipe Company, and Mr. iS. Gordon, of Messrs. Mays and Gordon, reticulation contractors, arrived from Auckland yesterday.
Air. J. Stewart, telegraph linesman, left on Saturday for Auckland on a three weeks’ holiday. It is his intention to return via the West Coast and Wellington. During MrStewart’s absence his duties will be carried out hv Mr. P. J. Malcolm.
Air. G. Morico, who recently held ■a position at "the District * High School, passed the latest term’s- examination at Victoria College, being first in mcjiiti.il science.
. ( The Chief Justice, Sir Robert Stout, and his associate, Air. R. W. Hill, returned south last night, as also did Messrs. Chapman, Skerrett, Abacfarlane, Bateson, and Griffin, all of whom were engaged in the recent sitting of the Compensation Court.
