Press Association. ASHBURTON, Nov. 1. People’s Day at the Ashburton Show passed off successfully to-day, in fine weather, though tlio attendance was not nil to expectations. J limping was comxileted, and numerous competitions decided.

CHRISTCHURCH, Nov. 1. Following are the number of general entries received for the Canterbury Agricultural and Pnstoral Association’s show to be hold next week: —Competitions 60, sheep 778, cattle 230, horses 460, pigs 54, dogs 16, dairy produce, dressed poultry, honey, cured and preserved meats, seeds' 149; total 1747. The total mitries for tlio 1905 show were 1849, and for the Exhibition show last vear 2536.

PALMERSTON NORTH, Nov. I. The third day of the show was a very great success in every way. Although in the afternoon the weather became threatening the rain fortunately held off until nearly 6 p.m., when' a shower' fell. The show was most fortunate in the matter of weather. A tremendous crowd was present, estimated at about 25,000. This gives the aggregate attendi.ince for the three days at nearly 50,000, and the takings amounted to about £I3OO, being about £IOO better than the previous year. Judging was all finished yesterday, merely some ring competitions being left for decision. Results were as follows : —Leaping competition—Ponies : J. Scott’s Canteen 1, F. Lumsden’s Tommy 2, D. McKeeman’s Dandy Dick 3. Lady driver: Mrs. St. Clair Jounnax 1, Mrs. F. S. Mcßae 2, Miss Scott 3. Lady rider: Miss E. Abbott 1, Miss Jessie Campbell 2, Miss Lloyd 3. Hunters’ competition: AV. Boulton’s Alpine 1, AV.” D. AAVtson’s Jeast- 2, J. D. Mitchell’s Bushy Park 3. In the section for jumping and leaping competition a splendid fight was made for winning honors. 111. this division competition was very keen. Eventually the Feilding Mounted Rifles’ first team, under Sergeant Younger, succeeded in carrying off the palm, the time being 3min 11 1-5 sec—a remarkably fine performance. The Feilding Mounted Rifles’ second team, under Sergeant-Major Ranby, was second; time 3min 14 3-ssec—-also a good performance; and tlio llammtu Mounted Rifles’ first team, under Sergeant-Major Smith, finished third, the time being 4min 3 2-ssec.
