FEILDING, Oct. 23

At the S.AI. Court, before Air. A. D. Thompson, to-day, John Gascoigne W nightman was committed for trial on tlie charge of perjury in giving evidence in a recent case, police v. Lo-wo and Robinson. Bail was allowed, himself in £IOO, and two sureties of £SO each.

George Cowan, on the charge of stealing £l3 from David Alorgam, was also committed for trial.

Tho Cheltenham Dairy Co. has obtained 11 1-1 Gd per pound for portion of the season’s butter. This is the highest price obtaining in the Dominion for the season’s output.

WELLINGTON, Oc.t. 20. At tb(> Alagistrate’s Court to-day, James AlcAllion was committed for trial on a. charge of attempting to murder Thomas Jackson Smith. All altercation had taken place at the g-ate of Smith’s house, and i.t is alleged accused fired a. number of revolver shots at Smith, who was not hurt.
