Mr. Lloyd George invited the chairmen of the principal railways to privately and informally discuss with him the whole situation. He declares he was not -acting under any powers which the Conciliation Act confers up on the Board of Trade.
Tlie companies are, arranging a strike time-table. Tlie Great Western Railway Co.’s circular asks clerks whether they intend to remain loyal in the event of a strike, and whether they are prepared to undertake duties outside tlieir grade.
