Drunkenness. —Matthew Donald was convicted and fined the sum of 10s, cosits 2s in default 48 hours imprisonment. Cycling on footpath.—Mildred Broddrick was fined 10s, costs 7s, for having ridden a bicycle '-n the footpath; Ada Foster, for a similar breach of the by-laws was fried a like amount.

Alleged Breach of Polico Offences Act. —J. M. Gouldsmith. was charged with having left a motor c- r on tho street without proper attendance. Mr Stock appeared for tho defendant and Sergeant _ Williams conducted . the prosecution. Mr. Stock pointed out that the Polico Offences Aot, under which rhe information was laid, applied to voaiiles, and as special legislation had been jiassed to deal with motor cars ho contended that motor cars were not vehicles within the morning of tho Act. 'He also quoted ilio Borough by-law dealing with motor cars. His Worship upheld tho contention raised and dismissed the case.

Maintenance Case. Tho case of Hannah O’Sullivan (Mr. H. J. Knn) v. Patrick O’Sullivan (Mr Stock), a claim for maintenance was mentioned in chambers. It had been .adjourned from Sept. 3, when the parties came to an arrangement that defendant was to provide plaintiff with a homo at Wha-taupoko and £6 monthlv; certain cattle at Ormond were to be sold, defendant talcing over the liability, and the Ormond property was to bo leased, the rent being paid to defendant’s solicitor. It was reported to tho S.M. that the plaintiff had been unable to leaso tho property referred to. Mr Barton said that it was a difficult case, and further adjourned it, in order that tho parties might come to some arrangement.
