PERSONAL.
Trooper Woodward, who met with an accident on Thursday afternoon, received only a severe shaking, anuwas able yesterday to proceed home. Captain Tucker is expected to arrive from Wellington to-day, and to stay in Gisborne for a week. Mr. A. Donald ,local representative of tho Labor .Department, has received word that Mr. Carmody, who is at present inspecting shearing sheds, is seriously ill at To' Puia Springs. Mr. Carmody suddenly developed rheumatism, and became so bad that lie has now to he carried to the springs. Mr. McQuarter, of Wanganui, is to take lip Mr. Carmody’s work, and arrives in town this morning. Mr. W. Miller reports tho following bookings through Messrs Cook and Sons’ local agency:—For London, Mivand Mrs. E. Pattullo, per Asturias, leaving Sydney March 18tli; Mr. W. Harmswortli, per China, leaving Sydney, March 14th; Air. Frank DeLautour, per Arawa, leaving Wellington 7th November; Air. S. Poole, per Bi-emeu, leaving Sydney December 3rd. For Hong Kong, Mr. L. Ihomas, per Yawatu Mam, leaving Sydney January 22ud. Miss Smith, daughter of Air. Amelins Smith, of Wellington, has been appointed masseuse at tho Government Sanatorium at Rotorua.
