Press Association. WELLINGTON, Oct, 17 Tho Council met at 2.30 p.m. PETITIONS.
In reference to several petitions, the committee reported that as th matter is one of public policy it had no recommendation to make.
GENERAL. The third reading of the Supreme Court Practice and Procedure Act Amendment Bill was postponed to M’ednesday, the Attorney-General explaining that it was his intention to move for amendment. Meanwhile r will be considered by the Statutes Revision Committee. The Bills of Exchangs Act Amendment Bill was put through the final ■ jtagC 'FlßE BRIGADES BILL The Attorney-General moved the soeon 1 reading of .the Fire Brigades Bill The Bill, he said, was chiefly consolidating, and he asked that r he read a second time and referred to tho Joint Statutes Revision Committee. This course was adopted. L \ND AND INCOME ASSESSMENT The Council went into committee on the Land and Income Assessment Bill, which was put through all stages without amendment. The Council rose at 4.30 p.m.
