DEATH UNDER CHLOROFORM.

Press Association. ASHBUIITON, Oct. IC. The wife of Mr. John Studhohne, of Coldstream, died suddenly at the homestead yesterday under chloroform. Evidence at the inquest showed that deceased had been ill for eight, weeks, and in the absence of Dr. Hunter, through sickness, Dr. Moorliouse, of Christchurch, by request, administered chloroform, and made an examination alone. Alter the examination deceased gradually sank, death being attributed to chloroform acting on deceased when she was in a weak condition, anil suffering probably from, some distention of "the intestines and stomach. The jury, without retiring, returned _a verdict in accordance with the medical evidence. Deceased was a daughter of the late Dr. Thomson, Archbishop of York.
