HARRIED HINDUS.

[To the Editok.]

Sir. —Your able leader this morning deals with a subject of ever-in-creasing interest in tho present day; viz: the treatment accorded to Hindus and other colored races. Tho account of the harassment of that hundred or two people from tliogreat Asiatic peninsula is somewhat pitiful reading." One would liave thought consideration of the fact that they were fellow-subjects should have restrained the Canadians from thrust-

ing them back over the border. Would it not, sir, be a reasonable position to take, that Hindus should be given at- least a moderate degree of preference, in tlie matter of admission to Canadian or Australasian soil, over the Japanese? Yet apparently equal objection is taken (to both. The Japanese are not only aliens but an over-reaching people. Look wliat they are doing in Korea and Manchuria. They rule with an iron hand, ruthlessly crushing tho patriotism of tlieunfortunateKoreans and causing, tlio people to look hack regretfully to the days of Russian occupation. 'Besides, to 'discriminate to even a limited extcnt'in favor of tho Hindus would, it may bo presumed, tend to appease the anitiBritish feeling which is now endangering tho property and lives of our fellow-countrymen in’ India. —I am, etc., /. F. G. COX.
