AERIAL NAVIGATION
A NEW ZEALAND INVENTION
PRINCIPLE ENTUtELY NEW,
RISK OF ACCIDENT MINIMISED.
Press Association. DUNEDIN, Oct. 11. iMr. L. Warsaw, merchant tailor, of this city, has invented an airship, . tho prinoiple of which, it is claimed, •is entirely new. The inventor says •that the lifting of tho machine is by means of four balloons joined to a central mast, making them as ono compact body, and that once tihe ship rises to a sufficient height two wings or gliders attached to tho apparatus will act in the same capacity as a parachute, which is to say that there will be sufficient air pressure beneath them to act almost independent of artificial lifting powers, and should any accident occur there is no fear of the apparatus coming to grief. The gliders are jollied by universal joining, and rest upon air chambers, and thus become self-acting under any current of air or adverse winds. Their action would resemble that of a bird on the wing. A rear shaft is adjusted on a similar principle, and should a gust of wind strike the front of the apparatus the adjustment of the rear shaft would have a* counteracting influence and steady the machine. The driving power j's by means of four propellors, two on each side, acting iudependenitly cf each other, and driven by two small'’ v motor engines, one at each end of the machine. In turning either or both can he used, and this in itself will act as a steering gear. The invention will be placed before the N.Z. Government, and if deemed worthy of consideration will be placed before the Imperial Government.
