CMSBORNE WOOL SALES
The. concluding salo of the old season Under- the auspices of the Gisborne Wool brokers Association was held yesterday afternoon at the Farmers 7 Club rooms. The catalogues of the various firms were not exten-
sive, the sale being of oddments to
clear the board for tlio now season. Xlio wool offered for sale consisted mainly of cruteliings and dead wool, the toital catalogued being 173 bales and bags. A moderate quantity of hides , skins and tallow was listed. The number of buyers ipresent was about up to the average, including Messrs Arnold (Bourke and Co., Gisborne), Kearsloy (Murgatroyd Bros., Auckland), Warnbck (Warnock Bros Auckland), Donald (Donald and Son Auckland), Holmes (Andrde and Son, Wellington), W. H. Smith (Gisborne), Tidswell, Watson (Gisborne) and Wilkes and Howarth, southern representatives. On the whole wool ,was:slightly easier than at last sale, but a good clearance was effected, and skins met with a ready sale at a satisfactory figure. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co. opened tlio sale at 2 o’clock,there catalogue comprising 38 bales and 27 baas of wool, mostly crutdhings, IGG3 skins, and a quantity of hides and tallow. Crutchings realised from 5d to 7d; dead wool 6d to BJd; rough fleece wool 8d; skins, good sorts, 7id to 81d, hides to 4|d, tallow oddments to 22s Gd per owt. Messrs Williams and Kettle’s catalogue included 34 bales of wool, chiefly crutchings; also 13 bags, six being crutchings, and five dead wool. The sheepskins offered (including 24 Delts) numbered 2013 and hides 97. The tallow totalled 37 packages and two sacks. The whole of the offering was disposed of. A small quantity of fleece wool made up to Sd; crutchings brouglat from GJd to 63d; good clean dead wool from Sd to Sid; second crutching s)<l. Skins met with a good sale up to Bd, inferior lots 4d to 5Jd; green skins up to Gs 7d; freezer hides sold at 27s Gd and station hides up ,to sd. Tallow, rough station saved, realised 20s Gd.
(Messrs 'Common Slielton and Co. Ltd. submitted 14 bales of wool, 1270 skins and 30 hides, and report- the following prices:—Hough fleece wool Bd, dead wool Bd, crutcliings from sld to Old, well-saved station shins 7RI to Bd, medium 7d to 7-jd, inferior from 5d to Gjd, hides from -ltd. Messrs Dalgety and Co’s catalogue comprised 22 bales of wool, 135 skins, 44 hides and a few lots of tablow. The following prices were realised:—Crutcliings from s!?d to G:]d, dead wool 6J to 71,d, skins s}d to Sid. hides 3d to 4§d, tallow 14s to 22s 6d owt. bones 3s ewt. Messrs Bennett and Sheratt offered 10 bales of wool, 700 skins, 70 hides and 50 casks of tallow. Orutcliimrs brought to Old, dead wool 7d to 71 d. skins to Bd, hides to 4|d, and tallow to 22s per cwt. The first fleece salo of the new season will be held on December sth.
