WAIMATA BRIDGES.

Tenders for the construction of four bridges over -tlio Waknata were opened at the County Council office on Saturday by Crs. Kenwav, Matthews, and Slierratt. Particulars of the bridges are as follows: ■No. 1: At P. Kemvay’s crossing, situated about 14 miles from Gisborne, comprising one 45ft span, truss, and two 24ft beam spans. No. 2: At H. Kenway’s crossing, about 14$ miles from Gisborne, comprising one 90ft span, truss, and two 24ft bttim spans. No. 3: At Gre ave’s crossing, about 18 miles from Gisborne, comprising one 80ft span, truss, and two 20ft beam spans. No. 4: At Martin’s crossing, about 20 miles from Gisborne, comprising one 80ft span, truss, and one 24ft beam span. The total weight of material will ■ho approximately 6 tons, being respectively 11 tons, 22$ tons, 17 tons, and 16$ tons. The superstructure is to lie steel, the contractor taking delivery at the Gisborne wharf. The tenders of Messrs Partington and Perver were provisionally approved, the other tenderers being J. Brown and P. McLoughlin and Co.
