MR KEIR HARDIE IN INDIA.
AN EXPLANATION,
United Press Association—Copyright (Received Oct. 4, 9.5 p.m.) LONDON, Oct. 4. ( Mr. Keir Hardie has cabled bo tlie “Daily Mail” that after investigating ho concluded that there was no sedition worth mentioning. With sympathy of administration and legitimate reforms tho agitation would speedily subside. He admitted stating that prohibition of meetings, etc., reminded him of Russia, and tho violation of Hindu women by Mahommedan rowdies reminded him of Armenia. He considered colonial government should be the ultimate foal. Anything else attributed to im was a fabrication. The “Mail” considers that these are only verbal modifications. Evidently Mr. Hardie was not capable of weighing words or understanding their real import. India in its present state of affairs was no placo for him. Bengali papers declare that Mr. Hardie is an angel and not a man.
