Dissatisfiaction arose because somo hundreds of mill girls struck out of sympathy with some 50 hoy strikers. The girls created a disturbance, ultimately causing the stoppage of the mills. The girls came in conflict with the police, pelting them with bobbins, and being roughly handled in return.
