CUSTOMS RETURNS.

Cutoiii dutios collected..at this port, during September totalled:—-Spirits £IO2O 12s 3d, cigars find cigarettes £222 12s, tobacco £347 7s 6d, wine £72 455; ale and beer £42, tea £3 8s 4d, cocoa £3 15s, sugar £137 13s 4d, opuim £l, goods by weight, general tariff, £268 7s 2d, goods ad valorem (general tariff) £1393 7s, preferential tariff £l2 2s 6d, other duties £6O 6s ; total £3585 6s Id. For the corresponding period of last year the. amount was, £3374 14s 3d. The following was the amount collected for the quarter :—Spirits £-1233 4s 6d, cigars and cigarettes £702 19s 6d, tobacco £lOl3 8s Od, wine £286 14s 7d, ale and beer £lB4 17s 4d, tea £5 10s, coffee 3s 6d, cocoa £3 15s, sugar £577 10s, opuim £l, goods by weight (general tariff) £702 18s Id, (preferential tariff) £2 17s 6d, goods ad valorem (general tariff) £3311 6s 6d, (preferential tariff) £6l 8s Oil, other duties (general tariff) £l3l 4s, (preferential tariff) £6 18s; total £11.312 15s Od. For the corresponding quarter last year the amount was £9702 Is sd. , There was an increase this quarter of. £l6lO 14s Id.
