Several meetings of railway men supported the demand of the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants for recognition. Received Sept. ?4, 1.10 a.m. LONDON, Sept. 23. Mr. Richard Bell’s form of ballot asks whether the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants is prepared to strike at a given time, in order to secure representation of the society’s officials to negotiate for a national programme. Mr. Bell, speaking at Cardiff, reiterated that even if the ballot were favorable to a strike another effort would be made to peacefully secure recognition of the society. Mr. C. McLaren, M.P., in a speech to his constituents, supported the recognition of the railway servants’ fiocietv. on the ground that organised labor benefited all parties. Tlie newspaper “Statist” supports recognition.
