MURDERS IN THE SOUTH SEAS LONG LIST OF OFFENCES.
MISSIONARIES THREATENED. United Press Association—Copyright Received Sept. 23, 11.3 p.m. BRISBANE, Sept. 23. Miss Young, of the South Seas Evangelioal Mission, from the Island of Malaita, brings tidings of several murders during the past few months. At Milu last month one of the Mission teachers was fatally shot by unChristian natives. Ten days before she visited Malu a man and woman returned, and the natives also murdered them. Threats were made to kill other teachers, even the white missionaries. Murders have also taken place within the last three months at Tarraciana and Simarango. At the latter place there were no fewer than six murders. Miss Young describes as monstrous the sending back to the islands of men and women deprived of means of defending themselves against armed natives.
