CRICKET.
Mr. A. Fenton, caretaker of the Napier Recreation Ground, arrived from Napier on Saturday morning by the Zealandia for the purpose of topdressing the new cricket pitch at Victoria Domain. On inspecting the ground Mr. Fenton stated that the pitch was in splendid order and only required a little attention in order to mako it a first-class wicket. With tile assistance of a man Mr. Fenton was able to complete the work of topdressing on Saturday. The amount of ground prepared by Mr. Fenton will allow for three different wickets, so that when one wicket wears another can be used, and the old one given a rest.
