FIRES ON WOOL-SHIPS.
DANGER FROM LOOSE MATCHES Special to Times. WELLINGTON, Sept. 20. The IVool Eiros Commission, in a further report presented to the House to-day, submit a copy of correspondence that has taken placo regarding the examination in London of eight bales of wool which were shipped by order of the Commission. Nothing of a definite nature appears to have resulted from, this tost. The report says The Commissioners all through their investigations had in mind the danger from iaxity in tho regulations in respect of carrying of matches loose in tho pockets of men stowing wool in ships’ holds. . . . Mere prevention of smoking in ships’ holds does not meet the case. The men should he prohibited from carrying matches when in the hold of a vessel. The Commissioners see nothing in the correspondence and reports submitted to lead them to any alteration or modification of their findings and recommendations, but they desire to emphasise their opinion that regulatjons in respect of matches in holds should bo irained and strictly enforced.
