BUILDING BY-LAWS.

Press Association. AUCKLAND, Sept. 20. Those who build houses, even though they be very small and temporary ones, always run a risk of figuring in the Police Court unless they first submit plans and specifications of the projected buildings to an authorised surveyor, and obtain his approval of them. John W. Brookes began to erect a building in Auckland on August 30th without following this necessary course, and this morning was called upon to explain the omission to Mr. Dyer, S.M. He put forward the plea that the building was only a small and temporary shed, but this was unavailing, the Magistrate fining Brookes £2 without costs.
