HOSPITAL SOCIAL. The New Zealand Shipping Company’s spacious wool store was the scene of another gay assemblage last evening, the occasion being “Children's Night” of the Hospital Social. The function, which is gaining , in popularity every year, was an unqualified success, both socially and financially. As on the previous evening, the hall was gaily decorated, and in the early part of the evening when the “little ones” held the floor, the scene reminded one of Gulliver’s travels when among the Lilliputians. The floor was in fine order, and dancing was kept up spiritedly until this morning. The music was supplied, by the Gisborne Private Band, under the conductor-ship of Mr. McKillop, the extras being played by Miss Moore’s orchestra. The M.C.s were Messrs W. Webb, A. Sawyer, T. G. Lawless, H. Miller, and Withers. The secretaries, Messrs J. R. Little and T. G. Lawless, who wore assiduous in their efforts to promote the succosb of tho social, have every reason to feel proud of tho result of their work. The inmates of the Old Men’s Homo, at the invitation of Mrs. Townley, were entertained at the social, aiid appeared to thoroughly enjoy tliemsfdvcs. They Jolt early, weil laden with tho good things which tlicir kind hostess presented to them.
