V, - ’ ANNUAL REPORT. Tho committee's report pointed out that tho club had made very good g regress for the year, both in nieinersnip and funds. Although the overdraft, £57 11s 6d, was nearly up to tho limit, tho financial statement must be considered satisfactory as the club had wiped out the last of the old outstanding accounts. The season had been an expensive one, owing to tho flood damaging the staging, and tho breakage of a lot of oars, which required replacing, Tho receipts had amounted to £lO7 15s 3d, and the expenditure to £lO6 4s sd. the balance of assets over liabilities being £174 Os 2d. The thanks of the club were due to the following gentlemen for trophies and donations: Messrs E. P. Joyce (five gold medals), C. Moore (two walking sticks), B. S. Cox, (photos), J. After detailing the results of the racing for the season, tho report went on to say that tho boats are in very fair repair, thaplrs to tho good work of several members—Messrs J. Nicholas, J. Stuart, S. Ledger, and C. Winter—and should see the season out without requiring any outlay upon them. The boat-shed however, is old and badly in need of repairs. Tho committee expressed the opinion that members should make an effort to try to get a new shed erected this season. A pair of new four-oars would also be wanted soon. It was mentioned, in conclusion, that the two socials held during the year had .been very successful functions. The receipts included £4O 14s membership fees and_ £l2 14s honorary members’ donations. Assets were set out: Boats, oars, etc, £l6O, boat shed £7O, outstanding subscriptions £2, Gisborne Rowing Club £1 3s 2d; total £233 3s 2d. In moving the adoption of tho bal-ance-sheet, which was carried, the chairman said the club would enter on. tho new season with better prospects than ever, the liabilities having been cosiderably reduced. If members would combine and work energetically in the interests of the club there was likelihood of emerging from debt this season, should no large expenditure he decided upon. CORRESPONDENCE.
