CORRESPONDENCE

“THE SIGN” MAGAZINE HOLY TRINITY CHURCH. [To THE EdITOB.] Sir, —In your issue of Friday, the 6th’ iiist. appeared' a letter over my signature with a'similar heading to the above. -In that letter I quoted a sentenco extracted from the above-named magazine, which, taken by itself, conveyed the impression that the writer was hostile to the work of the United Band of Hope, and I severely criticised the author of such a sentence. The matter in the first place was brought under my notice by two friends who had read the sentenco in the same light as I had done. But, sir, our worthy, vicar took very grave exception to my statements as being unjust,>and conveying a very false impression to tiie pujb'lic. On carefully reading the whole of the article, context and text, I saw a serious injustice had been done to the' editor of “The Sign” ; it aroso from the omission to peruse carefully tho entire paragraph, which caused mo to misinterpret the meaning.

I have expressed my great regret to our vicar for having so misjudged the article, and decided to write you to samo effect, and so remove any misapprehensions which my letter may have produced in the minds of any of your readers. —I am, etc., J. PECKOVER.
