A UNIQUE ACCIDENT.

BUSHFELLER’S BACK CUT OPEN. Our AA 7 b.ifatutU correspondent telephoned last night that a rather unique accident occurred yesterday. A -young man named AV. Espie, who was working for Mr. Dod, about six miles from AVhatatutu, set out for work in the morning with his axe on his shoulder. On his way he had to piss a log lying-in his path. He ducked under it, but owiug to some miscalculation the handle of the axe came in contact with the log, with the result that the blade of the axe was forced into the man’s hack, inflicting an ugly wound. Espie was carried to AA’ha.tututu, and driven from there to Pulia. H e went by train to Te Karaka, where ho spent the nighty, purposing to come on to tho Hospital this morning.
