PARLIAMENTARY RETURNS.

WELLINGTON, September 10. . The Speaker, through Mr. R. McKenzie, is asking for an interesting return showing—(l) The names of all females employed in the several Government departments; (2) the De-
pa i aments in which they are now employed; (3) tho date of appointment; (-I' whether they have passed tho Senior or Junior Civil Service Examination; and (6) salary proposed to he paid for the current financial yea r.
Mr, Allen is asking for a return shewing—(l) Daily allowance to employees receiving not more than IQs a day, also allowances for Sunday dutv and special services £45,000; (2) New Zealand International Exhibition, £7500; (3) payments under ‘"The Workers’ Compensation for Accidents Act, 1900,” £500; and (4) compensation to T. Carmichael for ex, tins in connection with building of departmental offices. £3IOO. Mr. Fisher, is asking for the nn'nes. salaries, and length of service of the temporary hands employed in the Government Printing Office.
For some years past a great deal of Government patrormgb has gone to certain legal firms. Mr. Swines is inquiring into the matter. He wants a return showing what hills have been drafted outside the Crown Law Draftsman’s Department since 1900, by whom drafted, and the amount paid for each Bill.
