HON. W. W. JOHNSTON'S ESTATE.
WILL FOR HALF A MILLION. (Special to Times.) WELLINGTON, September 11: Tho will of the late Hon. M alter W. Johnston has reached the Kogistmr’s Oflico at the Supreme Court. The value of the estate is not mentioned specifically, but it is understood that the figures run well over half a million, which easily makes a record for Wellington, and also ono for New Zealand. Mr. W. 11. Levin left- about £250,000, and this quarter of a million was excQoded bv about £50,000 by Mr. Jacob Joseph. Tho principal beneficiary is the widow, to whom about tliroo-quarters of the estate is devised. Three sons —Messrs. John Goring Johnston, Waltor J. Johnston, and Oswald G. Johnston, are 'also to have considerable interests in the property, and a sum of £30,000 is left with the Public Trustee for investment'on behalf of the four daughters—'Mrs. W. H. Turnbull, Mrs. Percy Baldwin, Mrs. H. H. Holmes,, and Miss E. C. Johnston. A niece, Miss Boryl Agnes Goring, daughter of Sir Harry G. Coving, is bequeathed £4OOO. The will, which is a very long and involved document. seems to confino tho legacies practicable to the family, but the widow, i.t is understood, is vested with extensive discretionary powors, so that the list of beneficiaries may be extended. Tho executors are Messrs. John J. Johnston, Walter G. Johnston, and W. It. Turnbull, who are each to receive £lO5 a year during the term of their trust.
