i The men’s competition will bo resumed at Victoria Domain to-morrow, when Te Btui will meet Ivia Ivalia, and City will try conclusions with West End. POVERTY BAY BEATS HASTINGS. (Special to Times.) NAPIER, September 10. A hockey matcji, Poverty Bay representatives v. Hastings was played at Hastings to-day. The game was fairly even, but in the first spell tho visitors had tho best of it. After some minutes’ play Roderick shot a goal for Poverty Bay, and shortly afterwards Dines added another goal to the visitors’ score. Hastings several times got within the opposing circle, but could not penetrate the opposing de-

fence. Hnllot, who was playing a • great game for Hastings, had a line i -sliot at goal just at.hall time, but unfortunately sent the ball over instead of into the not. At the commencement of tlic second, spell Poverty Bay were, again , soon "down in Hastings’ territory, and Roderick shot another it goal..
