BOXING.

Press Association. WELLINGTON, September 10. Seven heats in the Australasian boxing championships were decided at the Opera House to-night. There was a large attendance. Has Excellency the Governor was among the spectators. The judges were Messrs. F. W. B. Grevijlle and H. M. Rosenberg, and Dr. Napier McLean was .referee. On the whole the boxing was not specially - interesting. Three of the heats ended within one minute —lees than three rounds being boxed. All these heats were won on fouls, the audience thus, losing its sport. In. the hettvy-weight contest victory went to O. Bill, of New South Wales (list), who met J. Lloyd, of Ckrustoliurch (12st), after a minute s brisk boxing, the refere e being of opinion tha.fc Lloyd h&ld. The bantams who tried conclusions were R. Cantwell, of Queensland (Bst l*lb), and J. Parker, of Canterbury (same weight). After a very short set-to the decision went in favor of" Parker, through Cantwell holding. In the featherweights were F. Fdtzjohn (New South Wales, Set-3Jlb) and W. Elliott (Timaru, Bst 1041 b). Elliott was declared the winner. Another bantam contest was between E. Lusher (to ew South Wales. Bst OJlb) and V. B. Tracey (Wellington, Bst Of lb). The decision was given in favor of Lusher. This is the first time that Tracey has been beaten in Neoy land, though-Dickenson defeated ham in Sydney. Another feather-weight fi,o-ht was between V. Roughsedge (Queensland, Bst llilb) and A. Tresize (Ashburton; Bst 131 b), tlie latter wanning. In tho middle-weight contest C. Hill, of Neav South Wales, could not draw tlie weight to meet L. Fletcher,' of Wellington, no A. J. Scanlon. Queensland,- lOst 12klb, and J. McDermott. Invercargill, list 3jib, were, tho only starters in this class. Scanlon was given the verdict, as his opponent held.
