Alessrs Williams and Kettle will hold tlieir annual sale of town and suburban sections, and farm and station properties, at tlieir Lowe-street mart on Saturday, October 26th. Clients are asked to send in tlieir entries at an early date. Alessrs H. Miller and T. G. Lawless will officiate as Al.C.’s at the Kaiti Football Club’s social this evening, and Aliss Aloore will provide the dance music. A copy of the September issue of “Progress” has been forwarded to this office. It contains many interesting and valnablo articles relating to N.Z. industries. An illustrated description of the work involved in the construction of the Arthur’s Pass tunnel calls lor special commendation.
A meeting of the Outer Harbor Committee was held yesterday morning, Air. W. L. ltees presiding. After discussion a resolution was drafted, for ■iihmittal to Thursday evening’s public meeting, urging the desirableness of having the Harbor Enabling Bill passed this session. In view of the importance of tho subject, and the weight attaching to an expression of opinion from tlio townspeople, it is hoped that tlio public meeting will he largely attended.
