MATAWHERO STOCK SALE
The weather conditions were fairly good for the stock sales at Matawhero yesterday. The entry of sheep was somewhat larger than that of the previous week and included one or two pens of excellent quality. The keen demand which was in evidence at the last sale was again apparent and the auctioneers had little trouble in disposing of any lots showing moderate or prime condition. One pen of fat wethers realised 22s 6d and forward stores brought from 15s to 17s 6d. Hoggets realised from 12s 7d to 16s sd. There was only a small entry of cattle comprising mostly indifferent sorts with practically no prime quality offering. Light beef cattle brought from £6 10s to £7. Young steers realised from £4 tb £4 15s, springers £2 12s 6d to £5 10s, calves £1 to £1 13s. A few pigs were offered and sold fairly well at past rates, porkers bringing up to 335. The ch ief sales were:— Sheep—67 fat wethers at 22s 6d. 15 at 21s 3d, 39 at 19s lOd, 60 at 19s sd, 91 two and four tooths at 17s 6d, 23 maiden ewes and wethers at 225. 35 fat hoggets at 16s 7d, 17 fat owes at 19s 6d, 27 ewes and wethers at 19s. 14 owes at 18s, 7 ewes at 19s 6d, 200 hoggets at 16s sd, 101 at 14s 9d, 69 at 14s 6d, 39 at 14s, 50 at 12s Bd, 113 at 10s sd, 54 at 12s 6d,100 at 12s 7d. 40 cull hoggets at 7s 3d, 51 forward dry ewes at 14s, 32 ewes (with 36 lambs at foot) at 21s, 91 ewes (with lambs and to lamb) at 13s 9d, 46 ewes (with 51 lambs) at 17s, 48 dry owes at 13s 3d, 29 at 14s 3d. Cattle—B light-weight steers at £6 10s, 8 fat bullocks at £7, 6 forward steers at £4 15s, 3 at £4, 7 springers from £2 12s 6d to £5 10s, 45 calves £1 Bs, 2 yearling steers at £1 13s, 4 yearling heifers at 20s.
