MEMORIAL STATUE BROKEN.

Press Association. INVERCARGILL, September 2. A statue of a trooper by way of memorial to coivbingoivters was purchased some time ago for erection in the centre of the town. Work was postponed during the winter. Today a start, was made putting up the trooper, but the statuo was dropped after being raised four foot, breaking t-ho neck, both legs, and the rifle. An expert is being brought to 600 if ho can repair the monument, which cost £SS, and was got from Italy.
