COALS TO NEWCASTLE
TIMBER COMING TO NEW ZEALAND FROM TASMANIA. United Press Association —Copyrighl Received September 1, 4.20 p.m. HOBART, August 31. In order to enable local timber merchants to fulfil orders received from New Zealand, it has been decided to approach the Union S.S. Co., urging that greater facilities for the transport of cargoes lie granted. It was stated that a large quantity is stacked on the wharves awaiting shipment. STEAMERS TO BE CHARTERED. Received September 2, 1.7 a.m. HOBART, September 1. The timber merchants have communicated by cable with the Union Co. in connection with the delays in shipping timber to New Zealand. It is stated that some merchants are negotiating for outside steamers.
