LETTER FROM MULAI HAFID. ATTACK ON THE SULTAN. Received August 29, 11 pan. MOROCCO, August 29. General Drude commands 6000 men including 500 Spaniards. Mulai Hafid, in a letter to tlie officials and notables at Mazagan, describes Mulai Abdul Aziz’s ‘ X>olicy as ruinous to Morocco. He recalls the fact that the French temporarily occupied Ujda, and the Sultan did nothing to obtain their departure; and since then the Casablanca incident had occurred. Hafid declares he will grant satisfaction to the French for Doctor Mauchamp’s murder and other affairs. He hopes to enter into good relations with them and ai the Powers. Ho urges tho population to remain peaceful.

HAFID WELL RECEIVED. CONFISCATES MUNITIONS OF WAR. Received August 30, 0.17 a.m. MOROCCO, August 29. Mulai Hafid’s letter was welcomed at Mazagan where he was proclaimed Sultan, the former officials agreeing to remain in office. Hafid ordered all Government arms and ammunition at Mazagan to be despatched to Marakesh.
