WAIAPU COUNTY COUNCIL.
Press Association. WAIPIRO BAY, August 29. At the meeting of the Waiapu County Council on 28th August there were present:—Crs. Sherwood (chairman), T. S. Williams, Knox, Murphv, Cotterill. The minutes wore read and confirmed.
Correspondence as follows was considered:—Front T. Ritchie, asking that wages be increased. Tho matter was deferred for consideration.— From the New Zealand Counties Association, forwarding legal opinion. Received.—Waiapu Hospital Board, requesting the sum.of £2OO for present requirements. Granted.—From G. Boyd, calling attention to the erection of a jetty at Port Awanui. The attention of the management to be called and advised that the Engineer’s suggestions he given effect to.—F. Thrupp, asking for a license for a billiard-room. Granted.
Air. Black informed the Counci" that cattle jump into his private property.—Received.
Tho Engineer was authorised to attend the Assessment Court at Pori Awanui'on behalf.of the Council.
Various ‘road works requiring attention are to be seen to. The Engineer is to take steps to have the main roads put on a proper legal footing. Notice of motion was given to propose.at next meeting that a general late of.URI in the. £ he struck for the whole county.
Payments were passed for accounts amounting to £SOO. At- a special meeting of the County Council cajled for the purpose of striking a special rate of 6d in the £ over the Tuakau special district, it. was proposed by Mr. Cotterill that a rate of Gd in the £ be struck for the Tuakau special district. seconded by Cr. Murphy and carried. — The Clerk was instructed to communicate with the Minister respecting the difficulties of the Tuakau special loan.
