POVERTY BAY ROAD BOARD
The adjourned meeting of the Poverty Bay Boad Board was held at the office of the Board, Alakaraka, last evening. Present, the Chairman (Mr. Geo. Brocldebank), Alessrs D. P. Cameron, J. Condy and the secretary (Mr. A. F. Cuff). The secretary reported that, as instructed, he had prepared tho rate roll.—The Chairman moved the confirmation of the resolution striking a rate of a half-penny.—Air. D. Cameron seconded, and the motion was carried unanimously. The secretary explained wliat the position of the Board would be if merged into the County Council. It would merely be transferring the collection of rates.—The Chairman said lie had signed the petition to merge under a misapprehension.—After further discussion it was decided that tlie Chairman wait on the County Council when the petition is presented.
The Ormond Road Board (Air. J. AlcLeod, secretary), asked whether the Poverty Bay Board would cooperate with the Ormond Board in reforming and metalling, during the coming summer, the Avenue Road, which is the boundary road between the two districts. The cost was estimated at £SO. —Consideration was deferred to the next full meeting of the Board.
Air. Broderick, lands officer, Gisborne, wrote:—“Tlie Crown Lands ranger lias reported that tlie drain on the road forming the north-west boundary of sec. 28, Pouparae settlement, is blocked up. and the water is thus forced back on to the settlement. I understand that it is the duty of your Board to keep the drains on the road clean-.” —Held over to next meeting.
