Birth,-cyglist, has begun to ride from Sydney to Port Darwin by way of Queensland, thence along the trans-continental telegraph line to Adelaide, and back to Sydney. Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, August 21. H. E. Melirtens, winner of last year’s Warrnambool to Melbourne road race, and who has been disqualified by the League of New Zealand Wheelmen till February, applied tonight to have his disqualification removed in order that lie might defend ltis title as road champion of Australasia for the forthcoming race. The council of the League refused the application. A sub-committee was appointed to select accredited New Zealand representatives for the race. The council also resolved to invite centres to make application for the coming season’s championship races.
