ST. ANDREW’S CHURCH
ANNUAL MEETING
The annual congregational meeting of the Presbyterian Church was held last night, tho Rev. AA’. Grant presiding. Mr, Graham, session clerk, reported that an endeavor was to be made to get more young people to join tllie church, and that a special effort was to be .made to aid the Home and Foreign Missions. The--Rev. Grant reported on his. work for tho yoar, and extended thanks'rtoVtho congregation for their kindness to him and to the office-bear-ers for,-their loyalty, helpfulness, and sympathy. Tho .balance-sheet, which showed a balance in hand of £42 17s 3d, was adopted. Mr. AA’anen, superintendent of the Sunday-school, asked to bo relieved of his duties, and a, hearty vote of thanks was passed to him for his long and faithful service. It was decided that the church committee for the present year number 15 members, and the following gentlemen were nroposed:—Messrs. J. R. Redstone, It. Robertson, J. Peach, Leslie, G. Chisholm, E. Yardley, G. Smith, J. McKee, F. J. Rowley, T. J. Black. D. Morris, AV. Miller, Bendle, J. Smith, J. Friar, Jas. Hay, and Bushnell. The election will take place a,t Hie earliest convenient date. Mr. H. Adair proposed that a new church and manse be erected. At present there was not room for all the classes held. The twio buildings would cost £4OOO. —The Rev. M. Grant said ho had been promised £250 from one gentleman.—Tho sum of £9OO was guaranteed by elm roll members present.
