FOOTBALL. NEW ZEALAND PROFESSIONALS SATURDAY’S TAKINGS. A VISIT FROM ENGLAND. Press Association. WELLINGTON, August 20. The takings at the professional Rugby match at Sydney between N.Z. and N.S.W. last Saturday amounted to £602, of which tlio New Zealanders’ share was £316. It is stated that arrangements are being made for a visit to N.Z. by an English professional team in 1909 or 1910. HAWKE’S BAY BEATS WAIRARAPA. Press Association. MASTERTON, August 20. Tlio Wairarapa and Hawke’s Bay representative football teams met at Cartel-tea to-day. Rain fell during tli e day, and the ground was heavy. Neither team was fully represented. The game was confined to the forwards, in which department Wairarapa was superior. The Hawke’s Bay backs were safer than the Wairarapa. In the first spell Lewis and Oaulton scored tries for Hawke’s Bay, one of which was converted. E. M. McKenzie scored a penalty goal for Wairarapa in the second spell. Wyne scored a try for Wairarapa. Tho "ame tins ended in a win for Hawke’s Bay by 8 points to 6.
