United Press Association —Copyright Received August 17, 8.45 p.m. • SYDNEY, August 17. The annual road race from Bathurst to Sydney took place in fine weather. Ti:e roads were in excellent condition, but much indignation was expressed at some miscreant thickly strewing tacks on the road between Bathurst and Bowan Falls, causing about 40 competitors w sustain punctures, in some instances over a hundred tacks were removed from tyres. There were 94 competitors and tho following was the result: —F. Aplin, 40 mins, 1; A. .onlin, 40 mins, 2; Walcott, 50 mins, 3.‘ Large crowds lined the route at various interesting stages. Larcombe last year’s winner of this race, was among the contestants, but had tlio misfortune to break a crank before covering half the distance. The placed division got together in front before reaching Parramatta and fought out a great finish, F. Aplin crossing the line a couple of lengths in front oi Aplin, who was a- similar distance ahead of Walcott. The riding timo occupied by the winner was 7 hours o 9 minutes, A. Aplin 7 hours 59 minutes 0 2-5 seconds, Walcott 7 hours 59 minutes 36 seconds. G. Horder, from scratch, finished fourth and made the shortest time, viz., 7 hours 35 minutes 45 seconds.
