Arthur Wellesley Nelson, the young man who left a letter oil the Sumner Cliffs a few nooks ago stating tluut lie intended to commit siucido, but or whom no.trace has sinco been found by the police, was called this afternoon to answer an indictment that lie had sold drugs for an illogal purpose. Betsy Wear Scott, a decree was granted for restitution or conjugal rights. A similar order wins mudo in John McCulloch v. Margaret Brown McCulloch. Both suits wero undefended. , , „ WELLINGTON, August 15 Arch. McNeill, sent forward to the Supreme Court for sentence as a habitual offender, bad a long record ol convictions, but asked for a ohanco to reform. His Honor said it was clear accused could not make good his pronviso to reform; unless restrained ho would eontinuo in his evil courses. lie declared prisoner to bo a habitual offender, and ordered him to bo detained in a reformatory prison at the end of liis present sentence for failso pretences. Prisoner protested against tlio sontoiico as unjust and disgraceful. , At the Supreme Court to-day Mm. Henry Oakonfull, who had pleaded guilty to receiving stolen money, was admitted to probation for 2 years. George Ferris (Alias John Anderson), John Byron Hamilton and Win. Robert Sinclair (alias Connolly) were convicted of breaking into Lnery and Co.’s store and stealing £4l. They wero deferred for sentence. Other charges against prisoners liavo yet to bo heard.
