The steamer Arawata, which left last night for Brisbane, signalled Crowdy Heads to-day that there had been a collision, and that her stem was badly injured. She is proceeding to Brisbane. No other details were .riven or will be available till the Arawa.ta reaches her destination.
On Thursday the steamship companies .decided to increase the oversea saloon passage rates 10 per centum. Tlie steerage rates are not yet altered. The lines affected are the P. and 0., Orient, Canadian-Austra-lian, Lund’s, Aberdeen, and the French and German mail'boats.
