MATAWHERO STOCK SALE.
The N. Z. L. and M. A. reports as follows on the sale at Matawliero on Thursday:— The attendance was smaller than usual, and the yardings in all departments much restricted. For the time of the year, however, they were fair.
Sheep.—We yarded 764 and sold all hut 17, at following quotations:— Small hoggets 7s Id to 8s 6d, medium lines 10s 4d, well-grown sorts 12s to 13s, old ewes 6s to 7s, ewes in forward condition 12s 6d to 13s, ewes in lamb, 16s, fgt ewes 16s 3d. . Cattle.—There was a little better demand, and all yarded found buyers. We sold 88 head, quotations being, for dairy heifers, small, from £2 to £2 15s. Better lines and well forward from £3 12s 6d to £4 10s, whilst well-bred heifers made £5 to £5 10s. Dairy cows in low condition and backward from 50s to £3, cows near calving up to £5 15s. Beef cows, well finished, £5 15s. Small calves 10s, better grown lilies 245; short-horn hull £4 ss.
Pigs were a small entry. Smail poi'kers made 16s 6d. Our next sale will be held on Tliurs-. day, 22nd instant, for which we shall be glad to receive entries.
