HONORS TO MAORILAND.
ALLAN THOMPSON, RHODES SCHOLAR. Press Association. DUNEDIN, August 6. Information has been received to tho effect that Allan Thompson, the first Rhodes scholar from New Zealand, whose term is completed this year, has been appointed lecturer in geology at St. John’s College, Oxford, this being the first' College lecturership in this subject at Oxford. He has also been- offered the position of demonstrator in petroleogy to Oxford University, a new position, and in addition has been elected a fellow of the Geological Society,
