AN INFANT SUFFOCATED.
A CHARGE OF MANSLAUGHTER. Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, August 5. The death of an illegitimate child of a single young woman residing, with her parents at-Richmond formed the subject of an inquiry at the Morgue this morning. It appears chat the mother was visited at her home yesterday afternoon by the young man with whom she had been keeping company. During the afternoon the child, a fully matured one was born without the assistance of a nurse. Later two doctors were called in, and it was found that the child had been dead for some time. The mother’s condition was unknowu to her parents. A verdict was returned that death was due to suffocation and it is understood that manslaughter proceedings vail bo taken against tlie young man who was present at the death and who is alleged to be the father of the child. v
