LAND FOR SETTLEMENT.
Press Association. AUCKLAND, last night. Several additional sections and blocks of Crown land in the Auckland district will shortly be available for selection. Applications for sections in tlie Wainiana Settlement will be received on August 5, and a week later three more blocks lying to the south of Opotiki will be opened. Judging by the number of selectors already entered for these lands competition at tlie ballots will be keen. On August 28th a small reserve in Ilawene will be opened for lease under tlie Public Reserves Act, and ten small sections in the township of Wahnroa will be offered for sale on die same dates. A section of 430 acres in the Okanea Settlement, near Matamata. and one of 328 acres in the Puni district, near Otorohanga, will be available. On September 18 a secti.n: in the Returned Troopers’ Block, Otanake S.D., will be offered on the optional system. Up till August 7th tenders will be received for the purchase of kauri and other milling timber standing on parts of blocks an 1 XVI., Maungataniwha S.D., Omahutu State Forest.
