United Press Association —Copyright LONDON, July 17. In the House of Lords, at Lord Stanmore’s request, Lord Elgin consented to present to the House the correspondence respecting the sale of lands in the provinces of Revra and Naitaisari, Fiji. Lord Stnnmore expressed the hope that it would he impossible under the recent ordinance of the authorities, 1.. V the acquisition of land for public purposes, to deprive the Fijians of the whole of their lands.

Lord Elgin replied that tile Governor of Fiji was still bound to protect the interests of the natives, who were unable, owing to the declining population, to cultivate all the land available. It was the duty of the Government to take all steps to promote tho settlement of tlie islands
