BOXING CONTEST.

Press Association. AUCKLAND, .yesterday. Boxing contest's were held last night under the auspices of the Auckland Boxing Club. A lino contest took place between F. Metcalle, of South Africa, and T. Hunter, Auckland, in the final of the lOst amateur championship. Both lasted four rounds, Metcalfe gaining the verdict : on points. Alf. Gault, Auckland, and ■Albert Gray, Sydney, met in the ‘featherweight championship, <for a £4O purse. The Aucklander showed more science and greater hitting power. In tlie third round Gray fouled Gault twice, and the latter was declared the winner.
