- INVERCARGILL, yesterday. Professor Lichtwark, horse-trainer, was found lying in a pool of blood on the North road at 7 o’clock this morning, with his throat cut in two places. He was removed to the hospital, and died three hours later from loss of blood. No weapon was found, but it is supposed to be a case of suicide.

NAPIER, yesterday. Arthur Graham Owen was charged at the Court to-day with making a false declaration to the Registrar of Marriages at Christchurch, falsely declaring that he was a bachelor, well knowing he was a married man. He was remanded till to-morrow, bail being granted. A bitterly cold southerly, with a driving wind, set in this morning. BLENHEIM, yesterday. Several rain squalls occurred during the night and the hills were snowclad this morning.
